Only One Available: This is an extremely rare, one-of-a-kind item. This is a Hidatsa carving on the clavicle bone of a buffalo. It dates back to 1840. The carving shows a warrior of the Hidatsa "Dog Society" with a one-sided facial mask and corn husk head piece. The warrior is holding a rifle in his lap. On the opposite side, there is a buck drinking at a pool of water. Adjacent, a buffalo. This was found along the Missouri River, north of Chamberlin, South Dakota. Artist signed.

The bone has a great patina and smoothness (presumably from wear and water). It measures 7" from end to end. This one of the rarest artifacts we have listed. Perfect for any Native American collection & ready for display!

Ex. Denis Miner collection of Charlton, MA.
